Assistant, at our Affiliate, Georgia Retina. As one of the largest

Responsible for overseeingSupports and/or participates in the
research process by assisting research staff in management of
subjects and data specific to the subspecialty involvements
assigned. They must provide excellent customer service and be
responsible for working collaboratively with the Research
Department to provide timely and accurate data entry. They will
serve as backup for other functions on the Clinical Research
Team.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Preparing study charts for upcoming
study visits. + Correctly labeling and sending images to the
appropriate Reading Center. + Completing case report forms (CRA)
for PI review and approval.+ Obtaining physician signatures.+
Processing and shipping lab work.+ Recruiting subjects.+ Screens
patient records, databases, and physician referral summaries for
identification of prospective candidates for research protocols.+
Screening and scheduling subjects.+ Getting voluntary subject
consent.+ Teaching subjects about protocol expectations for them.+
Performing study/protocol procedures in a detailed, accurate
manner.+ Maintaining study files.+ Tracking subjects, avoiding
lost-to-follow-up.+ Maintaining communication and correspondence
(by telephone, email, fax, etc.) with subjects, sponsor, monitor
and other site study personnel.+ Helping study monitors with CRA
corrections (Example: Using black ink, put a single line through
incorrect information so that others can still read the original
entry. Add your signature and date of this change. Never use "white
out" liquid correction fluid to make changes on regulatory or other
documents including IRB and FDA forms.).+ Maintaining
study-specific supplies and checking expiration dates.+ Preparing
for study closure and archiving.+ Developing various spreadsheets.
+ Anticipating the needs of management by gathering records,
reports, correspondence, or other specific information.+ Assisting
the Clinical Research Coordinators and Director of Clinical
Research as needed.+ Assisting clinic as needed if study
coordinator is not in need of assistance.ABILITIES:+ Ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with other
employees and the public.+ Ability to work under pressure,
communicate, and present information.+ Ability to read, interpret
and apply clinical research procedures.+ Ability to identify
problems, recommend solutions, organize and analyze information.+
Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.+
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and set
priorities.+ Ability to work effectively with staff, patients, and
external agencies.+ Ability to examine documents for accuracy and
completeness.EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
experience.EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years experience preferred,
preferably in a clinical research setting.REQUIREMENTS:
None.KNOWLEDGE: + Knowledge of the practice's policies, procedures
and systems.+ Knowledge of medicine and ophthalmology. This
includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and
interactions, and preventive health-care measures.+ Knowledge of
the English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of
the English language including the meaning and spelling of words,
rules of composition, and grammar.+ Knowledge of Mathematics.+
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems
such as word processing, managing files and records, designing
forms, and other office procedures and terminology.+ Knowledge of
Customer/Patient and Personal Service. This includes patient needs
assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation
of satisfaction.SKILLS:+ Skills in computer systems and
applications.+ Skill in using a calculator.+ Skill in verbal and
written communication.+ Skill in gathering and reporting
information.+ Skill in coordination.+ Skill in active listening to
patients- Giving full attention to what other people are saying,
taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions
as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.+ Skill
in reading comprehension.+ Skill in critical thinking, judgment and
decision making - Using logic and reasoning to identify the
strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or
approaches to problems.+ Skill in time management. + Skill in
active learning and learning strategies - Selecting and using
training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the
situation when learning or teaching new things.+ Skill in
management of material resources - Obtaining and seeing to the
appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to
do certain work.ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Office setting -
multiple locations. Involves frequent contact with patients, staff,
and the public. Work may be stressful at times.PHYSICAL/MENTAL
DEMANDS: Work may require hand dexterity for office machine
operations, stooping and bending to files and supplies, mobility to
