This position reports directly to the reporting to the Executive Vice President Ambulatory and Business Development. This position is a strategic partner not only to System leaders, but also to operational leaders in both inpatient and outpatient laboratory services. This leader serves as a System consultant to laboratory operational leaders, providing guidance and recommendations for leadership and improvement. This includes evaluating clinical needs of laboratory services across multiple hospital inpatient and outpatient laboratory services. Furthermore, this individual will partner with operational leaders to create action plans to create consistency of policies, practices and compliance. This VP brings expert knowledge of regulatory requirements at the federal, state and local level. He/she will be foster a culture of continuous survey readiness, including audit of practices ensure compliance with requirements such The Joint Commission, CAPS and CLIA. This leader will be key to the design and implementation of the delivery of laboratory services strategy improve services and clinical outcomes, reaching established goals, maintaining satisfactory outcomes and contributing to the business plans and financial goals of the organization. The individual will exemplify collaborative relationships, creating a positive work environment and strengthening teamwork with clinical and caregiver operations with patient care being a shared focus. The VP Laboratory Services facilitates alignment with System strategy to ensure an unwavering focus on exceeding the expectation of WellStar patients, caregivers and consumers. Job Requirements:Required Minimum Education* Bachelor of Science in degree Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry* Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or master's degree in Health Care Administration or related field Preferred Minimum Licensure/Certification* Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) preferredRequired Minimum Experience* Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in laboratory services in an inpatient or outpatient setting* Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive management experience leading laboratory functions and managing staff, budgets and operationsPreferred Minimum Experience* Experience leading laboratory operations in a highly complex or large, multi-hospital system with multiple stakeholders is strongly preferred* Experience in both an inpatient and outpatient laboratory leadership position strongly preferredRequired Minimum Skills* Demonstrated process improvement experience, preferably using LEAN/Six Sigma principles* Demonstrated competence in building and maintaining successful relationships at all levels of a customer-service focused organization* Ability to deal with complex technical/management problems, meeting deadlines and managing multiple concurrent projects* Exceptional communication skills / professional presence with ability to lead and drive change* Knowledge of CAP and CLIA and other related state and national regulatory agency guidelines* Requires problem-solving and analytical skills* Proven track record in transitioning care delivery/strong change management skills* Ability to effectively with physicians, especially Pathologists, in managing day to day laboratory operations* Experience with Performance Improvement programs* Competency with statistics and statistical analysis is preferred* Hospital work must include significant hands-on experience with all applicable regulatory agencies (TJC, CAP, DPH), as well as fiscal, personnel, project management and new business development Demonstrated success in brand marketing; extensive experience with multi-media production
