POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring consistent, quality donor tissue retrieval by all Donor Recovery Specialists. Work with Donor Recovery Specialists across the country to provide regular training and guidance on processes and procedures. Identify and develop individual training needs, and track/manage training requirements. Complete Annual Competency Evaluations and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and hospital credentialing requirements. Assist with program launching at new hospital recovery sites and ensuring that all equipment, forms, recovery supplies, and staffing needs are met prior to site opening. Assist with tasks associated with SOP updates, creation of new documents and supplies placed in hospital setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Complete onboarding process with HR collaboration to confirm official start date. Initiate Recovery department introduction and provide new hires with instructions for their start date, including an agenda with schedule for their training sessions. Ensure new hires have all necessary assets, equipment, scrubs, access to necessary software * Conduct new hire and ongoing training with Recovery personnel regarding compliance, safety, processes, and procedures; guarantee completion of new hires Training Manual * Lead on-going training to decrease donor chart errors and controllable deferrals; extensive communication with the Recovery Department to address updates, reminders or urgent matters * Continuous collaboration with Quality Assurance department for accessing donor eligibility, data integrity and GDP; ensure all team members are operating in compliance with standard operating procedures and protocols, regulations, and hospital requirements * Provide coaching and guidance on day-to-day recovery process and conduct in-person, one-on-one training visits with each member of the team on a regular basis * Identify and develop specific training and re-training needs using internal reports and feedback that show deviations in procedures, errors, and omissions * Identify and recommend needed changes/improvements in recovery processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and quality donor tissue retrieval * Perform Annual Competency Evaluations to continue job compliance and determine the needs for re-assessment; complete forms sign offs * As re-training and self-training for updated Recovery controlled documents are conducted, when available and not traveling, guarantee completion of DocuSign sign offs * With collaboration of Recovery Administrator, ensure training on equipment use and installation, addressing areas of tissue loss due to errors in use of equipment * Assist Recovery Management with all activities required for launching program in a new hospital recovery site; ensuring all equipment, forms, recovery supplies, and staffing needs are met prior to site opening * If possible, participate/assist with training and educational, informative sessions for physicians and hospital staff conducted by Recovery Management * Establish and maintain reliable system for identifying and tracking required, needed, and completed training for all Donor Recovery Specialists * Ensure effective communication, coordination, and positive working relationships with Donor Recovery Specialist, hospital staff, and participating physicians * Identify and advise management of problems/issues that may arise with Donor Recovery Specialists, hospital staff, physicians, or nurse managers PROBLEM SOLVING: * Performs basic tasks and functions for professional field of work * Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems * Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/ anomalies in routine research/data DECISION MAKING/SCOPE OF AUTHORITY: * Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgement. May be paired with a mentor * Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor SPAN OF CONTROL/COMPLEXITY: * Entry level professional contributor on a project or specialty work team * Work is similar to that performed by senior-level employees in support/paraprofessional roles without degrees/certification to gain practical exposure to application of theories/principles of specialized area * Work is of limited scope, typically on smaller, less complex projects/assignments or providing support for larger projects/assignments that have department impact EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * BS/BA in related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. * 2+ years as a higher performing Donor Recovery Specialists (DRS) * 1-2 years of experience in related field, or verifiable ability, OR * MS/MA/MBA and 1-2 years of experience in related field Highly knowledgeable in Donor Eligibility restrictions and guidelines * Knowledge of AATB, FDA, and other state/federal regulations is helpful, but not required SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: * Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a focus on customer service * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) * Organized, flexible, and able to multi-task while maintaining a high level of efficiency and attention to detail * Ability to influence others to achieve desired results using tenacity and diplomacy * Strong analytical and problem solving skill WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will primarily be performed in the Labor and Delivery Department of a hospital. Must follow appropriate dress code (scrubs and white coat) and adhere to the hospital credentialing and registration system, which requires up-to-date vaccines. Out-of-state travel required greater than 50% of the time. May experience odor from donor tissue/samples.
