Heart Monitoring, NRP, ACLS, BLS Must-Have: 2 years of Labor and
Delivery experience, preferably with 1 or more travel contracts
completed. Description: This position is for a Labor and Delivery
Registered Nurse. The unit includes 9 labor rooms, 6 triage rooms,
3 assessment and preparation rooms, and 3 operating rooms. The
patient ratio is 1:1-2 for laboring patients, 1:2-3 for assessment
and preparation, and 1:1 for cesarean section and recovery. An OB
tech is always present for scrubbing cesarean sections and
assisting with vaginal deliveries. There is 1 dedicated charge
nurse to assist with triage and transport a baby nurse. The unit
also has 1 unit secretary on duty from 0700 to 2300. The
documentation system used is Meditech and Centricity. Nurses are
required to work 3 shifts per week and must be available to work
1-2 shifts during winter holidays. Floating to Mother Baby is
possible but infrequent and there will be no floating to any other
department. Candidates must have advanced skills in NRP, ACLS, BLS,
and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring. Procedures performed on
the unit include cervical exams, intrauterine pressure catheter and
fetal scalp electrode placements, vaginal deliveries, IV starts
with lab draws, circulating cesarean sections, and recovering
cesarean sections, typically with spinal anesthesia, occasionally
with general anesthesia. Dress code requires black, grey, or pink
scrubs in solid colors, with no patterns. Sweatshirts or t-shirts
are not permitted. This unit is a community hospital with a monthly
birth volume of over 200 deliveries. The facility is experiencing
significant growth with the addition of new practices and
healthcare providers. Collaboration with a laborist program ensures
24-hour coverage by both an MD and CNM. Dedicated anesthesia
providers are available 24 hours a day. The facility was the first
in the area to offer nitrous oxide therapy for pain management,
alongside epidural analgesia. Recent renovations have added six
new, state-of-the-art mother-baby rooms. The team utilizes advanced
tools such as the Jada, fetal pillow, and Cook's catheters. Most
nursing staff have completed Spinning Babies or Supporting Vaginal
Birth classes to enhance patient care and outcomes. 5 Benefits of
