The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary
team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that
patients, families, and significant others receive individualized
high-quality safe patient care. This role practices within a
clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other
leaders. Support is provided through a shared governance model
emphasizing professional practice and evidence-based practice. RN
competencies are derived from this model and are supported by core
values. All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and
uphold the standards of nursing practice. They are expected to
implement the scope of practice and code of ethics standards as
determined by professional nursing associations. As a member of the
patient services team, the RN Clinical Nurse upholds the voice of
the patient and system policies. Core responsibilities include
performing the nursing process in the delivery of clinical care
using evidence-based practices. The RN will provide
relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with
population-specific characteristics. They will partner with
patients and significant others, ensuring clear communication and
goal-oriented care planning. The RN manages and oversees care for
complex and high-acuity pediatric patients. They conduct
assessments and continuous monitoring hourly, providing culturally
appropriate and direct clinical care. Responsibilities include
managing ventilators, analyzing cardiac rhythms, and trending vital
signs. The RN will manage and titrate vasoactive, sedation, and
insulin drips. They will assist with bedside procedures and support
pediatric codes using established algorithms. The RN will
coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient
care. Participation in performance improvement initiatives and
interdisciplinary communication is expected. This includes timely
documentation and maintaining a respectful clinical environment.
The RN will complete all mandatory educational requirements and
serve as a preceptor or mentor for other nursing staff.
Participation in evidence-based practice and research is encouraged
to improve patient care outcomes. The RN will uphold all healthcare
policies and standards and actively participate in shared
governance. They will participate in protocol and procedure
development to achieve best practice outcomes. The RN supports the
effective use of resources in the delivery of patient care. Other
