Job Title: CT Tech Profession: CT Tech Specialty: Imaging Duration: 10 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology; less than 1 year experience in CT preferred License: Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): - ARRT Radiography - ARRT Computed Tomography - Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor Must-Have: - Excellent communication skills - Ability to function independently and under pressure - Excellent customer service skills - Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams according to established procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions the patient for the procedure. Verifies proper clinician order for the procedure. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media to ensure patient safety and comfort. Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification and markers utilized appropriately. Reviews CT images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and provides for the restocking of necessary supplies and equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates situations requiring physician intervention. Verifies correct identity of the patient using 2 unique identifiers prior to performing a procedure. Ensures patient's privacy and comfort during exams and maintains dignity throughout procedures. Demonstrates competence in determining and applying appropriate procedures and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with equipment operation and administration techniques. Uses critical thinking skills to assess and address patient needs. Communicates clearly with patients and their families to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation. Ensures patients' questions or concerns are addressed, notifying a physician when necessary. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanations for procedures. Maintains accurate and legible documentation. Reads daily emails and follows through on assignments as needed. Completes mandatory education without prompting. Consistently produces acceptable images as evidenced by feedback and quality audits. Ensures equipment is operational prior to use by checking for proper calibration. Sends all studies to the necessary systems immediately after completion. Completes all required documentation in clinical management systems. Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining cleanliness in the department. Transports and positions patients as necessary. Handles patient charging activities on the day services are rendered. Applies shielding, supportive, and immobilization devices appropriately. Acts as a resource to others upon request. Performs routine duties of support personnel as needed to ensure continuity of services. Keeps supervisor informed of all responsibilities and any potential problems. Maintains an individual productivity rate comparable to co-workers. Exhibits the ability to operate all workstations associated with the department. Maintains compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all organizational policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
