They are responsible for ensuring that patients and their families receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by nurse managers and other leaders. The RN Clinical Nurse upholds the practice of nursing as outlined by applicable professional standards and regulations. Core responsibilities include performing assessments, diagnosis, planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical care using evidence-based practice. They coordinate care through effective partnerships and adapt service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. The RN Clinical Nurse partners with patients and significant others to ensure their goals remain the focus of care. Teamwork and collaboration involve coordinating documentation of safe quality patient care and promoting an inclusive clinical environment. The nurse participates in performance improvement and supports shared governance. Professional development activities include acting as a preceptor or mentor and modeling professional practice. Participation in evidence-based practice and research is encouraged, including engaging in value analysis and performance improvement initiatives. Resource planning and protocol development are also essential functions to achieve best practice outcomes.
