Job Title: Orthopedic Medical AssistantStatus: Non-ExemptJob SummaryAssists Provider(s) during clinic in assigned location. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities. Patient Population Served: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric. This position is for our Immediate Care Clinic. Hours are Monday - Friday: Noon - 9:00 PM; Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Several shifts available; full-time and part-time with premium pay for weekends and holidays.Job ResponsibilitiesEscort patients to exam room; assist them with dressing/undressing as neededReview all Registration items in EMR. Obtain necessary forms from PatientsCollect data and accurately input data into all Intake sections of EMR.Ensure Patient Waivers are signed for Uncovered DME and Medical TreatmentPrepare physician's Surgical Orders and create orders for XR, DME, labs, etc., when appropriate. Schedule Labs, Diagnostic Tests, etc. Obtain results of lab and diagnostic testing. Obtain medical clearance for surgeries if applicable.Responsible for Patient Call Backs on messages, prescriptions and referrals. Review and respond to all items in personal and MD 'buckets'.Create school/work notes and Prescriptions for MD to sign in EMRFollow up with Patients on missed Post-Op/Post-Hospital Discharge AppointmentsProcess disability formsScan dispensed DME products into systemAssist with in-office proceduresMaintain medication supply cabinet inventoryMaintain medical supplies inventory and keep exam rooms stockedCollect dirty linen for pick-up daily and dispense clean linen upon deliveryPrepare for pick-up all specimens with labeling and appropriate requisitionsCollect Biohazard Waste on regular basis and prepare for pick-up.Responsible for understanding the basics of proper fitting and instructions of soft goods, bracing and all other DME products dispensed at clinics when DME Representative is out of office.Displays a basic understanding of insurance benefits and is able to explain and collect co-pays based on patient's benefits for DME..

High School Diploma or equivalentGradate from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistants, Certified Medical Assistants or Certified Ortho Tech program or equivalent experienceOne year of medial office experience preferredKnowledge of electronic medical records systemAbility to keep a positive attitude in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work as part of a teamMust be able to work independentlyMust be detailed orientedStrong organizational and time management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillStrong sense of discretion and professionalismPI160597088
