Job Title: Orthopedic Medical AssistantStatus: Non-ExemptJob SummaryAssists Provider(s) during clinic in assigned location. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities. Patient Population Served: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric. This position is for our Immediate Care Clinic. Hours are Monday - Friday: Noon - 9:00 PM; Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Several shifts available; full-time and part-time with premium pay for weekends and holidays.Job Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam room; assist them with dressing/undressing as needed
  • Review all Registration items in EMR. Obtain necessary forms from Patients
  • Collect data and accurately input data into all Intake sections of EMR.
  • Ensure Patient Waivers are signed for Uncovered DME and Medical Treatment
  • Prepare physician's Surgical Orders and create orders for XR, DME, labs, etc., when appropriate. Schedule Labs, Diagnostic Tests, etc. Obtain results of lab and diagnostic testing. Obtain medical clearance for surgeries if applicable.
  • Responsible for Patient Call Backs on messages, prescriptions and referrals. Review and respond to all items in personal and MD 'buckets'.
  • Create school/work notes and Prescriptions for MD to sign in EMR
  • Follow up with Patients on missed Post-Op/Post-Hospital Discharge Appointments
  • Process disability forms
  • Scan dispensed DME products into system
  • Assist with in-office procedures
  • Maintain medication supply cabinet inventory
  • Maintain medical supplies inventory and keep exam rooms stocked
  • Collect dirty linen for pick-up daily and dispense clean linen upon delivery
  • Prepare for pick-up all specimens with labeling and appropriate requisitions
  • Collect Biohazard Waste on regular basis and prepare for pick-up.
  • Responsible for understanding the basics of proper fitting and instructions of soft goods, bracing and all other DME products dispensed at clinics when DME Representative is out of office.
  • Displays a basic understanding of insurance benefits and is able to explain and collect co-pays based on patient's benefits for DME..

    Requirements:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Gradate from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistants, Certified Medical Assistants or Certified Ortho Tech program or equivalent experience
    • One year of medial office experience preferred
    • Knowledge of electronic medical records system
    • Ability to keep a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Must be able to work independently
    • Must be detailed oriented
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
    • Strong sense of discretion and professionalism
