Description:Position DescriptionThis position manages all administrative and daily functions that contribute to the coding, entry, and auditing of charges and medical documentation. The Coding and Charges Manager is responsible for overseeing the Coding and Charges Department including all personnel and functions. They oversee all of the daily operations for the department and implement quality control standards and audits to ensure that all coding is properly billed under the industry guidelines as set by the AAPC.Position DutiesThe position requires the following primary duties to be successful:Supervising the Coding and Charges Department in various duties, such as medical documentation review, proper CPT and ICD-10 documentation and entry, timely entry of all charges, and performing of quality control auditsImplementing and managing a system to ensure that accurate billing information is entered into the billing systemSetting and meeting department goals and addressing immediately any deficiencies.Managing staff performance by providing regular feedback, performance reviews, and one-on-one meetingsOverseeing the hiring and training of staffAttendees monthly and/or quarterly AAPC seminars to assure all coding is aligned with the industry standard and changesPlanning and structuring the department workflow and staffingCorrectly coding diagnoses and proceduresEnsuring proper timely filing of all claims by implementing a timely standard of charge entryAnnually reviewing and updating of charge masterCollaborates professionally with clinical staff and all other departments to maintain unity and successful resolve outstanding requestKeeping updated records and tracking reports as required by managementOther duties as requested of the Revenue Cycle Manager that are consistent with and appropriate for this position title and rolePosition ExpectationsTo perform the position successfully, an individual is expected to:Provide proven experience as a manager of correct coding and documentation in the healthcare industryDemonstrable experience with coding and charge entryKnowledge of AAPC guidelines and industry correct coding standardsSound knowledge of healthcare billing rules & regulationsWorking knowledge of MS Office & ExcelExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA strong analytical mindsetOutstanding organizational skillsBe passionate and professionalBe success-driven and metrics focusedBe smart; work smartHave a positive attitudeLeadership by exampleBe a positive agent for change/improvements within their departmentPosition MetricsThe execution of the position is quantifiably measured by the following:Overall gross collections 100%Position RequirementsMinimum Education Level: High School Diploma; college degree or college experience with a focus in healthcare management is beneficialCPC certification requiredExperience: 5+ years of Experience in healthcare billing and codingMS Office & Excel experienceEHR and PM software experiencePreferred: Ability to multi-task under time pressure. Strong communication and leadership skillsBe team oriented and able to work with various departments.
