Responsibilities
The AR Management Supervisor coordinates all daily activities of
the HB A/R management department. Providing
direction to ensure time frames are met for daily claims
processing. Provide staff training and quality assurance.
Completes policies and procedures. Completes and reviews
productivity and department reports. Management skills
are required in the daily operations of assigned area and in the
supervision of subordinate staff. It is imperative to
maintain a good working relationship with management, staff, and
external contacts such as insurance
representatives. The AR Management Supervisor coordinates the
department work flow, work queue assignment,
and review of any departmental reports.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: High School graduate. BA or BS
preferred or equivalent work experience.
Required Minimum Experience: Two to four (2-4) years' experience in
healthcare collections, claims processing, and
account management. Previous supervisory experience in hospital
credit resolution preferred. Comparable
experience with third party payors or with large physician group
will be considered.
Required Minimum Skills:
a. Broad proven practical experience in hospital billing, follow
up, and account management
b. Demonstrate proficiency in reading UB04
c. Identify where to locate and review state and federal
regulations as they relate to all payers
d. Knowledge of hospital billing process and revenue cycle
environment
e. Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of historical claim
history and problem resolution
f. Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to
collection processes and procedures
g. Knowledge of and skill in the use of computers and related
systems and software
h. Knowledge of insurance plan payment practices and billing
requirements
i. Knowledge of and detailed understanding of managed care
agreements
j. Skill in motivating and directing the work and activities of
staff with the ability to effectively delegate
k. Skill in good oral, writen, and interpersonal communication,
grammar, and spelling
l. Skill in time management and project management
m. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
n. Ability to set climate for performance at optimum levels
o. Ability to establish and maintain a cohesive work team
p. Ability to work efficiently under pressure
q. Ability to apply appropriate supervisory, management, and
leadership techniques in an operational setting
r. Ability to work independently and take initiative
s. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and to
operationalize that learning
t. Ability to willingly accept responsibility and/or delegate
responsibility
