The Credit Portfolio Group Manager is a senior management-level position responsible for Business Development initiatives for Citi Retail Services. As part of the Citi Retail Services Risk Management team, the successful candidate will lead initiatives associated with evaluating and structuring new business partnerships, renewal/extension of existing partnerships and development of new products and channels for the business. The role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of the financial services industry and players, strategic thinking, ability to see the big picture and work with a cross functional team to help assess and execute ideas and initiatives designed to achieve business growth and loss mitigation goals. The ideal candidate will have several years of credit risk management, strong statistical and data analysis skills and business knowledge/judgment for comprehensive assessment of risk and reward for new opportunities. This position will have high cross-functional and partner interactions and requires strong interpersonal skills.


  • Lead analytics and proforma development for new business opportunities
  • Establish solid cross-functional partnerships and networks to enable execution of cross-functional and business initiatives
  • Partner with a cross functional team stakeholders to assess, evaluate, structure and execute on new business opportunities
  • Represent Risk Management at regular business development team meetings
  • Present, build consensus, and seek approvals on business proposals and deal proforma, specifically the ability to defend and rationalize the Net Credit Loss (NCL) and Anticipated Credit Loss (ACL) forecast
  • Track and report of performance results and emerging trends and opportunities in the financial services credit industry to senior management
  • Ability to establish controls and monitoring techniques within our risk practices/processes along with documentation control
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
  • Understand applicable industry regulations and the requisite impact of those governance items on initiatives Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will have 7+ years' experience in a large, sophisticated credit granting or risk management organization within a major consumer card, financial services, retailing or consulting business. A strong analytical orientation, and an appreciation for broad-based risk issues and a familiarity with operations are desired. In addition, the successful candidate will possess and be able to exhibit the following skills and requirements:
    • BA/BS Degree with specialization in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Economics. Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
    • 10+ years' experience in financial services, preferably in Risk Management
    • Extensive coursework / experience in quantitative & statistical analysis in consumer credit risk will be a plus
    • Experience building credit policy strategies, loss forecasting - preferably on a credit card portfolio
    • Knowledge of the financial services industry, key players, products and emerging trends
    • The ability to apply credit and risk principles toward business objectives
    • Excellent overall business judgment and solid management skills
    • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Understanding of Consumer Credit Profit & Loss Drivers preferred
    • Experience in Statistical Tools - SAS, SQL, Python, Knowledge Studio
    • Demonstrated accountability for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/geographic regions
    • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and able to prepare presentations for executive level audience
    • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with urgency
    • Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences Education:
