We are seeking a talented Design Engineer with a desire to work aircraft mechanisms design for our Aeronautics business area in Marietta, Georgia. A successful candidate will apply extensive technical expertise with mechanical system principles and techniques including most of the following: door mechanisms, landing gear retraction, flight control, hydraulic or electro-mechanical actuators, bearing selection, and preliminary structural analysis. The candidate will coordinate efforts across a wide range of functional organizations including Airframe Design, Quality Assurance, Planning, Tooling, Structural Analysis, Materials & Processes, Flight Sciences, Test and Manufacturing.
Responsibilities for this position include:
-Development, test, and validation of mechanical designs.
-Creation and/or modification of primary and secondary structure with 3-D models, assemblies, and installations.
-Creation and/or modification of system requirements, interface/supplier control drawings, performance specifications, system checkout procedures, statements of work, trade studies, and component/ground/flight test plans.
-Technical engineering support for manufacturing, installation, and testing at Lockheed Martin and external supplier facilities.
-May function in a project leadership role where they manage system performance, budget and schedule.
-Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternatives - optimizing form, fit, and function of aircraft mechanical systems to include detail layouts, kinematics analysis, and airframe integration
-Design, develop, and finalize structural and mechanical layouts with systems interfaces
-Assist Program Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customers with all mechanism related issues for in flight and ground operations
A level 4 employee Typically has 9-15 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering; Civil Engineers will also be considered
- Experience using a CAD software (e.g., CATIA)
- Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access
Desired Skills:
- Experience with CATIA
- Experience with metallic and composite design
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
